We designed an expansive landscape for an avid dog owner and her faithful, much loved canine.   The backyard is programmed as a luxe, amenity-filled private dog park including: An artificial turf area with odor-neutralizing base, a perimeter mulched do run, a specially designed potty area with a louvred pergola which can be closed-roof as a dog relief area on rainy days (yes, really!), and a bench which doubles as an agility jump landing.  The monolithic bench is a custom cut, recycled Douglas fir trunk. A second “humans only” pergola provides an outdoor dining area on the newly paved patio.  High end lighting provides elegant illumination of both the house and landscape . A dry creek with stone slab bridge captures rainwater and roof runoff and is an environmentally smart “slow water” feature.  Low water, low maintenance, dog-safe plants  reflect this landscape’s focus on resiliency and water conservation.  The homeowner joyfully hosts friends and family - both human and canine - in a beautiful space made for memorable gatherings.
